Windscreen Update – Tennis & Pickleball Courts
In March 2024, the Board approved a motion allowing interested owners to install and maintain windscreens on the fencing surrounding the tennis and pickleball courts at no cost to the Association or Barclay. The motion specified that owners would be responsible for installation, maintenance, removal when not needed, and replacement through the Recreational Committee.
While maintenance was initially provided in 2024, ongoing upkeep in 2025 has been insufficient. Recent inspections and photographs revealed that several windscreens became loose and torn, with some detaching during high winds. Unfortunately, the style of windscreens used does not allow adequate airflow, causing them to act like sails and placing excessive strain on the fencing poles—one of which has already collapsed.
For safety and to prevent further damage, the windscreens have been temporarily removed. Beacon is researching more suitable, wind-permeable materials and secure mounting options that will protect the fencing, reduce liability, and maintain a clean appearance.
We appreciate the community’s patience and cooperation as we work toward a safer, longer-lasting solution for court windscreens. Further updates will be provided as options and costs are reviewed.
